Arsenal to reward Alex Iwobi with new contract that'll take his pay from £800 a week to £10k

Arsene Wenger has instructed Arsenal football club to tie down Nigerian starlet Alex Iwobi to a new deal that will ensure his future at the club is settled amidst admiration from some top premier league clubs.

Iwobi, who is Jay Jay Okocha's nephew, has had a blistering start since he joined the Arsenal first team and recently capped a brilliant performance against Barcelona in the champions league with a goal against Everton in the premier league.

Which has lead his club to offer him a new deal that will see his pay increase from £800 per week to £10,000 per week with bonuses.

Iwobi only signed a five-year deal in October, but his rapid progression and growth this season has pushed him into boss Arsene Wenger’s first team plans. He is currently with the Super Eagles of Nigeria and could play a massive role in today's AFCON qualifier against Egypt.

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi wished birthday boy Lionel Messi all the best on Tuesday but warned the Argentine to expect no gifts from Nigeria team who will be fighting for their World Cup lives when the two sides meet in a Group F clash.

Anything less and the African champions could find themselves headed home and Iran, who play Bosnia, progressing in their place.
One of world soccer's marquee names and most feared strikers, Messi turned 27 on Tuesday. He will get the chance to celebrate belatedly in Porto Alegre along with 80,000 of his Argentine compatriots who are expected to flood into this gritty port city for the match.

WORLD CUP: Luis Suarez Could Face 2-Year Ban For Biting Giorgio Chiellini

Italy's defender Chiellini pulled open his shirt to show the teeth-marks to the referee
- Suarez and Giorgio Chiellini clashed and in less than no time the 27-year-old sank his teeth into Italy's defender.
Although Chiellini showed the mark to the referee, the incident was missed. However, FIFA's rules allow the use of video or "any other evidence" to retrospectively punish players and Suarez could face a maximum ban of 24 matches or two years.
This is not the first time Suarez is facing a lengthy ban. He was banned for 10 games last year after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in a Premier League match and in 2010 he was suspended for seven games for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal while playing for Ajax Amsterdam.
He missed Uruguay's World Cup semifinal against the Netherlands four years ago after being sent for a handball on the line that denied Ghana what would have been a match-winning goal in the final minute of extra time in a quarterfinal match.
"I have watched the incident several times on television. There is no doubt Luis Suarez is a fantastic footballer but once again his actions have left him open to severe criticism. FIFA must investigate the incident seriously and take whatever disciplinary action is deemed necessary," FIFA executive committee member Jim Boyce said.
