boko-haram-jonathanThe Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday reiterated its allegation that those against President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, were the ones carrying out bombings in the country.
The ruling party said this while reacting to Monday’s bombing at the Kano School of Hygiene, Kano State, as well as attacks on some Kaduna communities in which many innocent Nigerians were killed and several others wounded.
The party, in a statement issued by its National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, said it was deeply worried by the spate of mindless attacks which it claimed were aimed to cow the people, destablise the polity and destroy the future of the nation.

Roli's Appointment: A One Out Of Many 2015 Elections Permutations

Just when you think the presidency has exhausted all its bags of jokes, you get hit with a very funny one, then another, over and over again, making an onlooker to laugh hysterically.
Right from when Nigeria began to exist, the leadership, whether democratically elected or through the barrels of the gun has always surrounded itself with its own kith and kin and same fundamental life beliefs which can be trusted from the discretion of the leader but expecting a high level of competence and a combination of political good hands from our shoeless president seems like a taboo.

The profound fathomless appointment of the wife of a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party by the president as the new Director General for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) via the president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, who confirmed it was with immediate effect, came as a surprise to Nigerians.
It is quite simple; there have been various political synergy in the past few weeks but this one is being trailed with many unanswered questions that keep staring in the faces of Nigerians.
Questions that show what is in the offing, questions that suggest an invisible plot.

OPINION: Is Tom Ikimi Bound For The PDP

The long awaited National convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC) took place weeks back with various leaders emerging at different levels at Eagles Square, Abuja.
It was a gathering that was eagerly awaited due to the earlier fears being held in some quarters as regard the credibility or otherwise of the convention. Yes, the Convention has come and gone, but the news making the round is the outburst from a Chieftain of the Party and an aspirant for the Chairmanship position, Chief Tom Ikimi. Amongst his allegations were, the National leader of the party, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu had hijacked the Party in order for his preferred candidate Chief Odigie Oyegun to emerge as the substantive Chairman of the Party.
Chief Ikimi went as far as referring to the APC as a personal property of Ahmed Tinubu. But really, is the APC a personal property of Tinubu? I thought with the merger of 4 political parties including that of Muhammadu Buhari, the APC should be a party for all.
Is Tom Ikimi being a bad loser? If he had emerged the Party’s Chairman, would he be saying the same thing? Why are Nigerian politicians always involved in such double standards? If it favors you, due process was followed but when the reverse is the case, they will cry daylight robbery. But truly speaking how did Tom Ikimi expect to be made the APC National Chairman? Is Tom Ikimi not a man of Establishment? This was a man that dined and wined with the Government of the day and when things did not go his way, he became a progressive overnight. Imagine Timipre Sylva, the erstwhile Governor of Bayelsa state even vying for the same position.

Patience Tells Nigerians, Stop Abusing My Husband

►Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, on Tuesday advised Nigerians to desist from abusing her husband because God Himself made him the head of the nation.

►Patience gave the advice while addressing children at an event she organised to mark the 2014 Children’s Day at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

►The children used the occasion to send letters of protest to the Boko Haram sect and President Goodluck Jonathan on the need to release the abducted girls.

The letters were given to Mrs. Jonathan for onward delivery to her husband and members of the sect.
The President’s wife however said since she did not know members of the sect, she would forward the children’s letters to the National Security Adviser or the Chief of Defence Staff.
“Let me thank the children that gave me a letter to give Boko Haram. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don’t know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the NSS or the Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly.
“To my children, thank you for your letter. Thank you for your deliberation. I have received what you gave to me. I will make sure I pass it to the President because it is addressed to him and the other one is addressed to Boko Haram. That is why the two are different,” she added.

Obasanjo Holds Talks With Boko Haram To Free Schoolgirls

Nigeria’s ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo has met with people close to Boko Haram in an attempt to broker the release of more than 200 kidnapped schoolgirls, a source close to the talks told AFP.
The meeting took place last weekend at Obasanjo’s farm in southern Ogun state and included relatives of some senior Boko Haram fighters as well as intermediaries and the former president, the source said.
“The meeting was focused on how to free the girls through negotiation,” said the source who requested anonymity, referring to the girls seized on April 14 from the remote northeastern town of Chibok, Borno state.
Reports of the talks emerged as Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, said the girls had been located while casting doubt on the prospect of rescuing them by force.
Obasanjo, who left office in 2007, has previously sought to negotiate with the insurgents, including in September 2011 after Boko Haram bombed the United Nations headquarters in Abuja.
Then, he flew to the Islamists’ base in the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, to meet relatives of former Boko Haram leader Mohammed Yusuf, who was killed in police custody in 2009.
The 2011 talks did not help stem the violence and some at the time doubted if Obasanjo was dealing with people who were legitimately capable of negotiating a ceasefire.
Spokesmen for the former head of state, who remains an influential figure in Nigerian politics, could not be reached to comment on the latest reported Boko Haram talks.
But the source told AFP that Obasanjo had voiced concern about Nigeria’s acceptance of foreign military personnel to help rescue the girls.
