US hits Russia with sanctions, expels diplomats

Dangote building biggest refinery in the world, it will end fuel crises

The Dangote Group, which is currently building what it calls the world’s largest refinery, has given an assurance that when the plant comes on stream, it will put an end to the recurring fuel crises in the country.

The executive director, stakeholder management and corporate communications, Dangote Group, Mr Mansur Ahmed, said by the time the refinery was ready, Nigeria would be transformed from a fuel importing country to an exporting one.

Earlier today, International news channel, Al Jazeera, published an article on their twitter handle with the headline above. The article was written to celebrate a Nigerian female mechanic. However many Nigerians on twitter felt the story title was inappropriate as it kinda portrayed all Nigerian women as prostitutes.

Famous Nigerian fashion designer, Toyin Lawani has shared an adorable photo of her 2-yr-old son, Lord Maine.
The picture clearly shows the little man trying out his hands on fashion designing like his mum.
The designer and stylist shared the cute photo her son, complete with a measuring tape, via her Instagram page, today, March 24, 2016.
Toyin Lawani revealed that he had resumed a one month intensive training at her fashion academy since schools had let out for the Easter break.

“School is on break. @lordmaine1 just resumed for his one month intensive class at the Academy.”
The serious look on the toddler’s face shows his genuine interest in his mum’s trade, as he is pictured trying to arrange a piece of material on a sewing machine, a measuring tape around his neck.

Arsenal to reward Alex Iwobi with new contract that'll take his pay from £800 a week to £10k

Arsene Wenger has instructed Arsenal football club to tie down Nigerian starlet Alex Iwobi to a new deal that will ensure his future at the club is settled amidst admiration from some top premier league clubs.

Iwobi, who is Jay Jay Okocha's nephew, has had a blistering start since he joined the Arsenal first team and recently capped a brilliant performance against Barcelona in the champions league with a goal against Everton in the premier league.


Which has lead his club to offer him a new deal that will see his pay increase from £800 per week to £10,000 per week with bonuses.

Iwobi only signed a five-year deal in October, but his rapid progression and growth this season has pushed him into boss Arsene Wenger’s first team plans. He is currently with the Super Eagles of Nigeria and could play a massive role in today's AFCON qualifier against Egypt.

Pakistani Remanded In Prison Over Cocaine Importation

A Federal High Court in Lagos State on Tuesday remanded a Pakistani, Iftikhar Muhamma Arslan, in prison for allegedly importing cocaine into Nigeria from Qatar.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke ordered that the accused be remanded in prison following his arraignment on a one-count charge by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The suspect was reportedly committed the offence on April 5, 2014, and was arrested by NDLEA officials the same day at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, during the inward screening of passengers.
The charge reads in part: “That you, Iftikhar Muhamma Arslan, a Pakistani, on the 5th day of April, 2014, during the inward clearance of Qatar Airways flight from Doha, Qatar at the arrival hall of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, without lawful authority, imported a narcotic drug and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 11 (a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004”.
Arslan pleaded not guilty to the charge, but the prosecutor, Vembe Emmanuel, prayed the court to remand him in prison and set a trial date.
Defence counsel, Benson Ndakara, did not opposed the application.
Justice Aneke, therefore, granted the prosecutor’s request and adjourned the matter till September 26, 2014.

Dutse Airport To Begin Commercial Flight Operations Mid-July – Gov. Lamido


Sule LamidoGovernor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State yesterday disclosed that the Dutse Airport in the state capital would start commercial flights operation from July 14, 2014.
Gov. Lamido, who disclosed this to newsmen when the Managing Director of Overland Airline, Mr. Edward Boyo, paid him a courtesy call, said the commercial flights will be within Nigeria for now while international flights will commence at a later date.
“We will launch our first commercial flight on July 14th, 2014. Arrangements have been concluded to airlift Jigawa intending pilgrims from our airport. We are willing to partner Overland Airline for the development of air travel business. We are happy that most aviation experts that visited the airport commended the level of work done there”, he said.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Boyo said the airport has the best runway and terminal in the country, adding that the state government has done a lot to develop the aviation sector.

Rep Member Raises Alarm Over Plot By FG To Kill Amaechi


Amaechi-GEJThe no-love lost relationship between the Presidency and the Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has taken a further blow following the allegation by a member of the House of Representatives, Andrew Uchendu that there are plans to kill the governor.
Uchendu, who represents Ikwere/Emoha Federal Constituency, said the series of attacks on Amaechi in recent times were part of a well-orchestrated plot by agents of the Federal Government to kill the governor.
Addressing newsmen at the National Assembly complex, the lawmaker, in a speech entitled “Before Chibuike Amaechi dies”, pleaded with Nigerians to prevail on agents of government to allow the governor live.
He said: “It is my plea to all men of goodwill to prevail on the Federal Government and its agents to allow Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to live”.

INEC Will Repeat Success Of Ekiti In Osun, 2015 Polls, Says Jega


jegaimages1.jpgThe Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Tuesday pledged to repeat the feat it recorded in last Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State in future elections.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, who stated this in Abuja at a meeting with the leaderships of the 26 registered political parties, said the experience in Ekiti election would be improved upon specifically in both the August 17 governorship election in Osun State and the 2015 general elections.
The meeting, which took place at INEC Headquarters in Abuja, was attended by chairmen and secretaries of the political parties.
The stakeholder’s meeting was part of the Commission’s efforts to harmonize and approve the guidelines for the commencement of the election campaign by candidates and conduct of election primaries by political parties ahead of the general elections next year.
Mr. Jega commended the efforts of the parties in contributing to the peaceful conduct of the Ekiti polls and asked for their commitment in future elections.

Forces Opposed To Jonathan’s Administration Behind Spate Of Bombings, Says PDP

The ruling party said this while reacting to Monday’s bombing at the Kano School of Hygiene, Kano State, as well as attacks on some Kaduna communities in which many innocent Nigerians were killed and several others wounded.
The party, in a statement issued by its National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, said it was deeply worried by the spate of mindless attacks which it claimed were aimed to cow the people, destablise the polity and destroy the future of the nation.
The ruling PDP while condemning in very strong terms the wicked and senseless attacks on Nigerian citizens, urged Nigerians to note the pattern and timing of the attacks, which it said betrayed a trend tailored against the PDP and the Federal Government.

Breaking News: Bomb Goes Off In Adamawa Market

Barely three days after a suspected car bomb went off at the Kano School of Hygiene, another bomb has exploded at Kasuwan Kuturu market in Mubi area of Adamawa State.
The State Commissioner of Police, John Abakasanga, was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria as saying the explosion targeted a police patrol team.
He said there was no casualty from the blast.
Adamawa is one of the three states currently under emergency rule due to the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents.
